What are vape pods?

Vape pods are used with vape pod kits and come in detachable, refillable or pre-filled styles. They can contain e-liquid and a coil, allowing users to switch their vape pod when at the end instead of changing their entire device. Vape pods are designed for specific vape pod devices and all have an e-liquid capacity of 2ml.

• Refillable Vape Pods

  Refillable vape pods can be refilled with vape juice via a top, side or bottom cap. These come with or without integrated coils, or with separate interchangeable coils which are easily swapped out for a new one making it hassle-free. 

• Prefilled Vape Pods

  Prefilled vape pods cannot be refilled and come preloaded with a specific flavour of e-liquid, designed for compatibility with prefilled pod vape kits. These offer a hassle-free and convenient vaping experience as they can be disposed of once completed. 

What liquid can be used in a refillable vape pod?

Refillable vape pods usually support a mouth-to-lung or restricted-direct-to-lung vaping style. Some vape pods provide a direct-to-lung hit and are fitted with a larger internal battery within the pod vape kit. An MTL vape provides a smoother flavour and stronger throat hit, whilst a DTL vape provides enhanced flavour and denser clouds.

Mouth-to-lung Vaping

• Most MTL vape pods are best paired with high-PG vape juice. We recommend using 50PG+ e-liquids such as nic salts. 
• Vape pods which support MTL vaping are best used with coils of 0.8ohm and above.

Direct-to-lung Vaping

• DTL vape pods are best paired with high-VG vape juice. We recommend using 70VG+ vape e-liquids such as shortfills. 
• Vape pods which support DTL vaping are best used with coils of 0.4ohm and below.

Restricted direct-to-lung Vaping

• RDL vape pods can be paired with both; however, we advise checking which coil you are pairing with the pod. 
• Vape pods which support RDL vaping are best used with coils between 0.4ohm and 0.8ohm. 

Lifespan of a vape pod 

While the lifespan of a vape pod can be dependent on the user of the device and which type of vape pod is being used, it is generally recommended to replace it every two to three weeks for optimal performance. A refillable vape pod usually lasts between two to three weeks with high-quality vape pods lasting up to a month, this is dependent on whether the pod features an integrated or replaceable coil. 

Used vape pods with integrated coils can safely be disposed of and replaced by simply switching the vape pod with another. Vape pods with replaceable coils can last longer as only the coil needs to be changed often, so the same pod is still used. 

Prefilled vape pods are different as they are preloaded with e-liquid, they can be used until the vape juice has run out and switched for a new flavoured pod. The lifespan of these vape pods depends on how often they are being used. 

As stated above, it is generally recommended refillable pods are replaced every two to three weeks whilst prefilled pods can be used until the preloaded e-liquid has emptied. There are a few warning signs when vape pods should be replaced. 

• The Vapour Starts To Decrease - When you vape and notice the flavour and vapour have decreased, this can indicate it’s time to change your pod. 
• The Taste Starts To Go - As you use your vape pod the coil performance will drop, and you’ll notice the flavour diminishes, even with fresh liquid. 
• Dry Hit - When vaping, if your vape pod is full of e-liquid but you get a burnt taste, this indicates that the pod’s time is up. If you want to make your vape pod last longer, it is usually done by not vaping as frequently or taking long hits. The more you vape, the less your vape pod will last. 

Vape Pod Leakage 

Many factors can cause a vape pod to leak. Understanding these can help you to prevent leakage when refilling your vape pod. 

• One of the main factors is overfilling the vape pod. Exceeding the limit in the pod can cause it to leak. Ensure you don’t add too much e-liquid and leave a slight gap at the top of the pod for air. 
• Defected Pod: If your vape pod is old or faulty, it can cause the vape juice to leak. Make sure it isn’t damaged or cracked. 
• If the vape pod requires interchangeable coils, make sure your coil isn’t loose and is slotted in correctly.  
• If you’re using the incorrect vape e-liquid for the specified vape pod, this can cause loose cotton within the coil and will heat the vape juice too high.  
• The coil in the pod lasts 1 to 2 weeks and if left any longer may need to be changed. If a coil is burnt out, the cotton may no longer be able to retain the e-liquid in balance and it will leak through the coil. 

If your vape pod is leaking, the steps below should be taken to help resolve this. 

1. Remove the vape pod from your device. 
2. Wrap it in tissue and gently blow it into the mouthpiece to clear any excess liquid. 
3. Wipe away any leftover vape juice inside the chamber. 
4. Let your device cool down if it feels too warm. 
5. Check the coil – ensure it is fitted properly or replace it if needed. 
6. Avoid overfilling your vape pod to prevent leaks. 

Are vape pods recyclable? 

Yes, vape pods are recyclable. Any vaping device must be disposed of safely and correctly. When disposing of your vape pod, following the steps below should guide you on how to do this safely. 

1. Use up all the e-liquid in the vape pod to avoid leaks. 
2. Check local recycling rules – some centres accept vape cartridges as e-waste. 
3. Look for take-back programs – some brands let you return used cartridges. 
4. If recycling isn’t an option, throw them in the bin, but keep them away from heat to avoid fire risks. 

How do vape pods differ from tanks? 

Whilst both vape pods and vape tanks have some similarities like containing coils and e-liquid, there are numerous differences between pods and tanks. With vape pods, e-liquid and a coil are held inside a plastic pod that’s much smaller, lighter and more durable than any glass tank. Vape pods are designed for pod vape kits whilst vape tanks have been designed for vape mods. One of the main differences between vape pods and vape tanks is tanks have a 510 connection allowing them to be paired with a variety of mods, whilst vape pods are made for specific vape pod kits.

These pod vape kits are ideal for MTL (Mouth To Lung) vaping as the pods have a smaller hole which produces a stronger throat hit on inhale. Pod Kits can again come in a refillable or prefilled style.
